During the sportsmassage most of the time I feel some triggerpoints, the so called "knots" . These triggerpoints can cause referred pain when the triggerpoint is active. The vessels of this area are filled with toxins and because of that very thight. There is less oxigen transport in that area of the muscle.
When I press the triggerpoint with my finger/thumb the triggerpoint will mealt away or even give a missive twitch response. The triggerpoint therapie will give the bloodstream free enter to rebuild the cells of the muscle.
You can treat yourself with triggerpoint therapy as well. It helps the recovery to repeat the pressure on the triggerpoint.

This sportsmassage is mostly for the frontsite of the upperleg. It is a firm massage for a faster recovery of the muscles. Of course it's possible to massage other muscles as well. For example from your upper back.
This sportsmassage is mostly for the calves. Calves are the most sensitive muscles to massage, but eventually it will bring you a better recovery after a intense exersize. I prefer a complete treatment of the legs, so I will massage the gluteal area and hamstrings as well.
The piriformissyndrom feels like a referred pain from the gluteal area to the backside of you leg, sometimes al the way to you foot. It can cause some loss of strength, a numb feeling or tingling. Sometimes sitting can be painful. For example when you have to drive a lot.
The muscle piriformis can cause a lot of these problems, but with deep massage techniques it is treatable. Most of the times I need 3 to 5 sessions.
